The Council has designed various enlightenment workshops, seminars and conferences on maritime and international trade issues. It also organizes special clinics to address specific issues using a problem solving approach. Some of the key enlightenment programmes include:
  • The Maritime Seminar For Judges which has been nationally acclaimed by members of the judiciary and the legal profession, and has been emulated by one of our sister shippers’ councils – Ghana Shippers Council.

  • The Cargo Insurance Seminars, which enlighten shippers on the fine prints of cargo insurance clauses.

  • Joint workshops with the Nigerian-Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Nigerian-French Chamber of Commerce and the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce. The workshops explore ways of enhancing bilateral trade relations between Nigeria and these countries for the benefit of Nigerian shippers.

  • Shipper Education seminars which develop capacity and assist shippers to ensure fair and common user practices.

  • The Cargo Defence Fund seminar series which include the joint seminar with the Nigeria Insurance Association (NIA) to sensitize insurance companies on provision of insurance cover for the Cargo Defence Fund of the Council.
