The Council participates actively in international maritime activities and forums to ensure that it educates itself and contributes to international decisions that ultimately affect the Nigerian Shippers. To this extent, the Council liaises with United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), World Trade Organisation (WTO), International Trade Centre (ITC) and ensures active involvement in the activities of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) , International Oil Compensation Fund (IOPC) , Union of African Shippers' Council (UASC) and the Maritime Organisation of West and Central African States (MOWCA).
