The Council has established five Shippers’ Information Centers at the various zonal offices of the Council across the nation– one each in Lagos, Aba, Kano, Jos and Abuja offices.

These information centers are designed to provide shippers access to information on international trade through the use of the Internet facilities at the centers. The Information Centers are cyber-café like and are free for registered shippers.

The Council publishes quarterly indicative freight rates and local shipping charges used by Customs as part of the inputs in the determination of customs duties. Shippers make use of the benchmark rates to prepare their business proposals.

A national register of shippers, which would be produced annually is being established. The register is expected to be a useful tool for both local and international businesses.
The Council provides electronic information to shippers through the Council’s website.
