1. INTRODUCTION

The Federal Executive Council approved the commencement of Inland Container Depot (ICD) project at six (6) locations in the country under BOOT Agreement on 15th March, 2006 and the project was gazetted vide Federal Republic of Nigeria Official Gazette No.30 volume 94 of 21st May, 2007.

So far, the following are the Concessionaires and locations of the ICDs/CFSs across the nation:

2. LAND MATTERS

Land has been secured from the respective state governments where the ICDs/CFSs are located. Compensation has been paid in Kano, Isiala-Ngwa and the initial site in Funtua. The processing
of Certificate of occupancy for three  (3) ICD sites in Kano, Isiala Ngwa and Jos has been completed.

The turning of the Sod ceremony, which signifies the official commencement of movement of Concessionaires to sites to start construction work, has been carried out in Kano, Jos and Isiala-Ngwa and Ibadan sites. 

3. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOUs) WITH RELEVANT SERVICE PROVIDERS:

For effective Implementation of ICD, Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) have to be signed with the following agencies viz: Nigerian Ports Authority ( NPA),Nigerian Customs Services (NCS), Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and Security Agencies.

4.SELECTION OF MONITORING CONSULTANTS FOR THE ICD/CFS PROJECTS

Monitoring consultants have been selected to assist the Council to provide professional support for the development of ICD. In this regard, two monitory consultants have been appointed for the ICD locations in Kano and Isiala Ngwa.
